In a continued effort to make essential professional learning more accessible to more people, the University of Chicago and HyperionDev have secured access to GI Bill® benefits for all educational bootcamp programs at UChicago, opening new opportunities for military-affiliated learners across the U.S.
Veterans, active-duty service members, and eligible family members can now use their VA education benefits to enroll in flexible, online bootcamps programs delivered by one of the world’s leading universities.
Designed in response to today’s workforce needs, these programs span fields such as Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI Engineering, Full-Stack Web Development, Digital Marketing, and Leadership and Management, and provide a direct route to building real-world skills, growing professional confidence, and moving forward in a chosen career path.
“This is a meaningful step forward in our mission to break down the barriers to world-class education,” said Riaz Moola, CEO of HyperionDev. “By expanding access to veterans and their families, we’re making sure that those who have already given so much have a clear and supported path into meaningful careers.”
From day one, each bootcamp delivers practical, career-focused training through fundamental tools and one-on-one guidance from experienced professionals. The online format offers the flexibility to study from anywhere, on a schedule that fits around work, family, and other responsibilities, without sacrificing learning structure or support.
Veterans and eligible dependents can access GI Bill® benefits through the University’s Office for Military-Affiliated Communities (OMAC), which provides dedicated support throughout the application and enrollment process. Veterans and their relatives may also be eligible to defer a portion of their tuition. To determine eligibility for VA benefits, interested parties are encouraged to contact veterans@uchicago.edu.
“The University of Chicago has a strong tradition and ethos of coupling theory and practice, not only to ground students in fundamentals but also to help them understand how to apply those fundamentals to emerging world problems,” said Nick Feamster, PhD, Neubauer Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Chicago. “The world is moving fast, and these bootcamps will help professionals stay on top of the skills needed to operate in today’s society.”
“As a veteran and higher education leader, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges service members face when transitioning to civilian careers. These bootcamps offer more than just training—they provide a direct pipeline to meaningful, well-paying jobs in today’s digital economy,” said Terrell Odom, EdD, Director for the Office for Military-Affiliated Communities and Assistant Dean of Students in the College. “By combining the prestige of UChicago with industry-driven skills development, we’re giving veterans and their families the tools to compete, contribute, and thrive in an ever-changing workforce.”
