HyperionDev and Konexio Join Forces to Empower Refugee Talent Through Tech Education

Posted by

Cape Town, South Africa 13th August, 2025 — HyperionDev, a global online education provider that co-delivers and co-markets bootcamps and short courses with top-ranked universities, is excited to be working in collaboration with Konexio. A social enterprise that empowers marginalised groups, especially women and refugees, by equipping them with the digital skills needed to access new career opportunities.

This partnership brings together HyperionDev’s practical, mentor-supported and university backed bootcamps and Konexio’s on-the-ground community support to show how collaboration can drive real skills development and unlock access to career opportunities in the tech sector.

Konexio chose to partner with HyperionDev to expand access to high-quality, outcomes-driven tech education. As the organisation explains:

“We hope this partnership brings lasting change. By giving one of our alumni the chance to join HyperionDev’s Software Engineering Bootcamp, we’re not just offering a course, we’re opening a path to a whole new future. We want to show what can happen when talented young people get the opportunities they deserve, and inspire more partnerships like this that help them succeed.”

The first student to benefit from this collaboration is Jonathan Divine Akena, a 21-year-old refugee from Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp and co-founder of the youth-led initiative Technikam. His journey is a testament to the resilience and potential that exists within refugee communities when given the right tools to thrive.

“This opportunity means everything to me,” says Jonathan. “Joining HyperionDev’s Software Engineering Bootcamp will allow me to sharpen my coding skills, build real-world software, and pursue the tech career I’ve always dreamed of. It’s the perfect launchpad for my passion for tech.”

HyperionDev CEO and Founder, Riaz Moola, says the partnership reflects a deeper goal, breaking down the barriers that limit access to digital careers.

“We believe that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity doesn’t. This partnership shows what’s possible when support is practical, personalised, and built for long-term success. With an 88% job placement rate within six months of graduation, we’ve seen how quality tech training backed by real guidance can change someone’s path, and we’re proud to help Jonathan begin that journey.”

HyperionDev alumni work at top global companies, and thousands of learners have transformed their careers through our programmes. This collaboration highlights the broader impact of quality online education and the importance of extending that access to those who need it most.
