What is PHP?

PHP is a widely-used open source and server-side scripting language that is mainly used for websites, web applications & online systems. A scripting language is a programming language that supports scripts, which are programs written for a special run-time environments that automate execution of tasks which could alternatively be executed one-by-one by a human operator.
